The Mapema Education Scheme (MES) is a five-year project aimed at safeguarding inclusive quality Early Childhood Development. The project is located in 10 wards of Sengerema district and 5 wards of Buchosa District. It provides nurturing care and establishes a friendly environment encouraging child development.
The project invests into vulnerable children aged 0-6 years including children with disabilities. For project implementation we have been working with different stakeholders to promote child learning as well as to improve the health condition and well-being of the children.
Mapema Education Scheme provides children aged 3-6 years with access to quatity education (regardless of their sex or conditions) before enrolling to primary school. Additionally the project implements different activities targeting to improve general health of children aged 0-6 years.
A total of 406 children have already benefited from the investment into Early Childhood Development (ECD) within this project and 107 stakeholders have been reached in the implementation process. We are convinced that friendly infrastructures are an integral part of the engine to drive early childhood development.
On top of the inclusive education the MES project encourages and supports families to engage into small business such as vegetable farming, selling small fish or any other business in their surroundings in order to increase family income. Thus, being able to support all Early Childhood Development initiatives within selected wards.
