Introduction:
The Youth Engagement Project aims to empower both boys and girls by enhancing
their essential skills, knowledge, and self-esteem in crucial areas such as
communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership, and financial literacy.
This empowerment enables youth to develop confidence, take initiative, make well-
informed decisions, and foster a sense of purpose and social responsibility.
Background:
Focusing on the potential of youth as change-makers, FTT (Fadhili Teens Tanzania)
has been actively implementing diverse activities to engage and empower young
individuals across various development sectors. Recognizing that the involvement of
youth is pivotal for progress – from the family level to the national stage – FTT seeks
to address the challenge of youth exclusion from essential development processes,
including budgeting and local government meetings.

Addressing the Gap

Understanding the significance of youth participation in developmental decision- making, FTT has taken a proactive stance to educate youth about their vital role. This educational initiative underscores the positive outcomes that engagement can bring about, considering that a significant portion of our nation's population is composed of youth. Their potential to drive substantial change is undeniable.

Promoting Peaceful Engagement

Fadhili Teens Tanzania has also been an active participant in the Great Lakes Youth Network for Dialogue and Peace. Through this collaboration, FTT has concentrated on cultivating peaceful programs that encourage active youth involvement. The project's focal point is to establish a robust network among youth originating from the Great Lakes region.

Key Achievements

One noteworthy accomplishment is the successful organization of cross-border gender meetings, which provide insights into avoiding and addressing violence that could potentially disrupt peace and security – from individual families to the entire nation. This effort has empowered 25 youths from Tanzania, particularly those hailing from the Great Lakes region. Many of these young participants have become influential advocates, spreading awareness and knowledge throughout their communities.

Advancing Youth Voices

The Great Lakes Youth Network for Dialogue and Peace serves as an indispensable platform for youth to share perspectives and ideas conducive to supporting their involvement in decision-making processes. Additionally, the network plays a vital role in maintaining peace within the Great Lakes region.
